Agatha Gafarova, Staring, not seeing, 2022

The Fabrika Centre for Creative Industries is hosting a graduation exhibition by bachelor’s students of Contemporary Art at the HSE Art and Design School. In the exhibition titled ‘Freedom of Absurdity’, the early-career artists present their interpretations of melancholy. The exhibition is open to visitors until April 21, 2024, and admission is free of charge.

The works presented at the exhibition are divided into six categories: childhood, fairy tales, philosophy, anxiety, apocalypse, and protection. Each category has its own symbol. The exhibition does not have a definite beginning or ending: the visitors are free to choose their own route. This feeling of infinity enhances the sense of absurdity that the artists are trying to convey.

The exhibition explores the themes of finding support in oneself and others, returning to a child’s perception of the world, and engaging in philosophical reasoning.

Curators of the exhibition are Anastasia Shabashova and Roman Mironov.

Open until April 21, 2024

Address: 18 Perevedenovsky Pereulok, Elektrozavodskaya metro station

Open: from Tuesday to Sunday: 12:00pm–8:00pm

The admission is free of charge.
